The groundbreaking idea, will make best use of the crucial three hours of a kidnap - when hopes of recovering a child safe are at their highest.
Once a child has been reported missing, feared kidnapped, a description of the child, the abductor and a picture could be sent to the growing army of mobile phone users.
Details of the text messaging plans emerged at yesterday's launch of Child Rescue alert, a pilot scheme using television and radio to warn that a child has been snatched.
